While studying my Master’s degree in Europe, one of the most important aspects of filmmaking that was stressed on us was the expansion of our portfolios. One of the ways in which we could undertake this task was to film local artists and choreographers performing dances, stitch them together in a dance film, and then release it.

Hunger was one of these films, produced and released in Estonia. The film was directed by Lou-Andréa Fière, who also ended up being the director of my Master’s graduation project Strawberry Shake.

The project is an astounding piece that encompasses identity and what it means to exist in the world when you feel like your identity is slipping.
