Todas as Ondas (“All the Waves”) is a Portuguese drama film directed by Felix Cognard and written by Isabella Giordano. The story follows a young surfer who attempts to navigate the expectations of his father following his mother’s death.

When I was commissioned by the film’s producer, Hind Kammourieh, to design the credits, she made it clear that she wanted the film’s credits to include both static title cards and an end crawl. As such, the beginning of the credits has title cards that showcase the film’s primary crew. Afterwards, the credits become a crawl, displaying the rest of the crew alongside the occasional picture of a surfboard. I decided to use a rough and bold sans-serif font for this project, as it encapsulated the sandy texture that the film left in my mind. The credits also feature blue and yellow colours, but I feel like I don’t need to explain why I chose them.

Early on, the decision had been reached to include both the English and Portuguese versions of each crew member’s role in the film, which is why the credits implement both. I enjoyed designing these credits and added a touch of character at the end of the crawl by showing a surfboard embedded in the sand with the film’s English title displayed alongside.
