When I moved to Europe near the end of 2020 to study my Master’s degree, the first stop was Lisbon, Portugal. During the first semester there, we were tasked with producing a few short films that would invariably form the foundation of our portfolio.

One of the films produced was O Que Vemos, which I can argue to be one of the best films I have had the privilege of writing. Or rather, co-writing. The story follows two gay actors who are in the middle of an active film shoot but are unable to put aside the struggles of their personal lives to complete the job at hand.

O Que Vemos (or rather “What We See”) was released in multiple film festivals around the world and received quite a lot of acclaim. When I wrote the script, multiple changes were naturally implemented throughout the process, but the hug that was featured in the film was never removed. It seemed necessary and inevitable to use that image for the poster.
